Commercial chart-computation API and MCP server — AI capability packaged as a product that other systems and agents consume programmatically.
The problem
A computation-heavy niche product only becomes a business when other software can build on it: developers and AI agents need a documented, key-gated API surface — and a Model Context Protocol server — rather than a website they have to scrape.
The build
- Designed and built the full API and MCP surface for programmatic access to the chart-computation engine.
- Structured access as key-gated tiers so free, paid, and partner usage run through one controlled surface.
- Ran security auditing and hardening passes across the product: spam and abuse controls on public endpoints, key management on the gated ones.
The evidence
- Live product at humandesignengine.com with a staging API that answers health and OpenAPI documentation requests.
- The MCP server makes the same capability directly callable by AI agents — the product is an example of the agent-ready interfaces I build for clients.
The Human Design Engine is the proof-of-practice product: a domain engine wrapped in the interfaces modern systems expect — a REST API for applications and an MCP server for agents. It is built, secured, and operated as a commercial product, and it is the working example behind the BeyondSaaS offer of packaging AI capability as APIs other systems consume.
